I spoke directly with a social media marketer from the company of CannaCart and we discussed it all. From a day in the life at the company, to the hardest parts of the social media marketing field, we covered it. Found through one of the internship opportunities at the Fox School of Business of Temple University, this company was a startup. They described their day at the company as different every day, which is what they loved about the job and social media marketing. They would do anything from updating the content calendar, going out and getting the content themselves, connecting with influencers, and of course, posting. We discussed what platforms resonate best with which generation. Instagram for the younger audience, Twitter and Facebook for the older audiences.

The social media marketer from CannaCart and I discussed the recent debate that went viral on social media; Chick-Fil-A's spicy chicken sandwich versus Popeye's. Although the employee from CannaCart was clear that they supported Chick-Fil-A, they elaborated on why certain things go viral and others don't. They made a great point in saying that it depends on who is sharing it and who is seeing it. Someone with a lot of followers posting about something is going to reach far more people than someone without, even if it's the same post. Popeye's selling out of their spicy chicken sandwich proves the incredible power that social media has. My guest elaborated in saying that the social media industry would probably never die out because of the power it holds. They said that the industry will continue to be successful because companies can market their brand and products without breaking the bank. If interested in social media marketing, our advice would be to read. Stay up to date on current events and trends. My guest discussed how the hardest part of social media marketing is getting your foot in the door and figuring out what content is going to be successful. There's no need to get discouraged when you receive a negative comment on you/your brands page. It happens to every company, but the best thing you can do is respond as soon as possible, even if you can't fix the issue. Consumers want to feel like they are heard, responding quickly with willingness to fix the issue is the best way to handle this specific situation.

My guest and I discussed what they love about social media marketing. They said they loved it because they can be different with every brand. You can be creative as you want and there aren't really any rules with it. It's a way for this person, as well as others, to express themselves. We discussed what a successful social media account looks like and concluded that it's not the amount of followers, its the amount of impressions and people you reach. How many followers you turn into customers, people who are going to interact and be loyal to your brand.
